Even though your dress is the most important piece of fashion you’ll wear on your wedding day, it’s important not to underestimate the power of a good pair of shoes. From comfort to colour, there are many things to consider when you’re choosing just the right pair of shoes for your special day.
Heel
Don’t leave buying shoes until the last minute, because you need to make sure that the heel of your shoe is appropriate for the length of your dress. If you get your dress hemmed to meet the floor and then buy a shoe with a 85 mm heel, you may end up showing off more of your ankles than you’d planned on. Find shoes first and then wear them when you take your dress to be hemmed. Don’t buy a heel that is too big to walk in comfortably — you don’t want to trip going down the aisle!
Colour
If you want to wear white shoes on your wedding day, keep in mind that not all shades of white are the same. Compare your shoes to your dress to make sure that the shades of white are complementary. Of course, you can always go with a bold colour for your shoes. A bright shade of blue or pink adds a fun pop of colour to your wedding day attire. Consider getting a shade that complements your bridesmaids’ dresses — it’s OK if they don’t match the dresses exactly.
Style
The style of your shoe should complement your gown. If you have a very simple, flowing dress, shoes with lots of embellishment may not look right. Instead, consider getting a pretty shoe that has fewer sparkles in keeping with your dress. Similarly, if you have a satin dress then satin bridal shoes are the best addition to your wedding day attire.
