Colour Coordination and More – Mother of the Bride Outfits

Conventionally, it is the bride who will select her dress first and it is her dress that will set the style for everyone to follow. Then, the groom must buy his matching suit. It is always of high importance that both the bride and groom set the colour and that both colours should complement each other.

This is also the case for mother of the bride. The mother of the bride must wear something that will complement her daughters dress. The mother of the bride and the bride herself should not wear the same colour, but rather in colours that coordinate. So if the bride would wear a beautiful long crème gown, then the mother should not wear crème but rather a light pink dress for example.

In order for colours to coordinate and to complement each other, ask a stylist if you are unsure or consult with your daughter first. Do not forget about the mother of the groom as she will also need to make sure to wear something that fits within the formality of colours. This is also a great way to get acquainted and to break the ice, if that is necessary. Start shopping once your daughter or son has already bought his or her outfit, as this will also make it less stressful for the bride to worry about what everyone else will be wearing.

One way to preventing having to think about this, is to include a dress code. Dress codes are there to ensure that everyone will look somewhat the same as they will be wearing the same colours and this always looks great in pictures as well.
